Waking Dream
CUTC came to a close over the weekend. Thinking back, the whole thing was a blur. We were cooped up in the Toronto Hilton hotel's basement for three days, listening to seminars, eating catered food and meeting colleagues from other universities. Oh, and the partying, can't forget the partying. I'm never one to go to clubs, but given the circumstances, it was as fun as one can get after alcohol was downed.
It wasn't all fun and games. There were tech-shop competitions where we could win laptops. So my team of five( read: Jane and I ) stayed up all night working on the presentation slides. This was after I had a gruelling two hours of practice, and then three more hours of dancing. Needless to say, I was a walking zombie the next day, and had to run home and sleep after the presentations. No, we didn't win. As crazy as I thought we were, the group from Carlton went batshit. They stayed up for two nights working on this, ignoring all forms of entertainment around them. They did a banged up job, and I say props to them for winning, they really deserved it.
I suppose that's the difference between people. Those who commit and are diligent will come out on top, and those who run around the city trying to get three things done in one day will not.
It's been a few days after the event, but my head is still in the clouds. The events themselves are still replying in my head, as well as some of the people I met. It's like a dream in a far away land, sweet, and lovable. The kind that lingers in the heart long after waking.
